    Matthew Fagan Jr.
        M.S., LPC-A

Matthew Fagan, Jr., M.S., LPC-A is a go-getter who believes that therapy should be about providing practical tools to clients that aid them in breaking patterns of negative behavior and empower them to make the changes they want to see in their life. Regardless of personal history, Matthew works with individuals in a way that considers their unique collection of life experiences to create a hand-tailored approach to creating positive change in their life.

Matthew creates a safe yet challenging environment for clients to explore different perspectives of their situation and discover solutions which were previously hidden to them. He does this by employing a variety of therapeutic techniques such as narrative therapy, solution-focused brief therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Matthew recognizes that the situations we find ourselves in are a result of childhood, religious, educational and cultural programming which may or may not be working out for the individuals who are seeking therapy. Because of this, Matthew advocates for an honest look at the conditions which directed a person’s life and facilitates this process in therapy by emphasizing authenticity, genuineness and depth in the cultivation of the therapeutic relationship.

Matthew has an extensive educational background which came about in his own process of self-discovery, completing his undergraduate degrees at Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology as well as Communication Studies. From there he pivoted into trade skills, becoming a locksmith and small business owner before making the decision to return to school and obtain a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. Matthew’s value on lived experience sent him around the world and allowed him to partake in both the inner workings of corporate America and the everyday lives of the “common man”.

In continuing his training, Matthew’s supervisor Katelyn Williams MA, LPC-S, RPT-S, NCC has extensive professional experience ranging from teens to families and covering a variety of therapeutic issues such as anxiety, grief and family dynamics. Katelyn provides oversight to Matthew’s continued training as an LPC-A ensuring that the highest quality of care is provided when working with Matthew.

Whether you are struggling with childhood trauma, lack of life purpose, or simply wanting to experience greater fulfillment in life, Matthew’s proactive approach to change helps clients to quickly shift into joy, fulfillment and that “zest of life" we are all looking for.
